Jules Buckley
Composer, orchestrator and conductor Jules Buckley is a musical pioneer who pushes the boundaries of contemporary genres. He holds the position of Principal Guest Conductor with Holland’s Metropole Orkest and through his work as founder and director of the groundbreaking band, the Heritage Orchestra, he has written compositions and orchestrations for a host of significant names from the jazz world and beyond.
Last year Buckley joined forces with Felix Buxton of Basement Jaxx to arrange new orchestral versions of the dance duo’s hits, played by the Metropole Orkest. He also collaborated with comedian Tim Minchin, conducting for the sold out Comedy Prom at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Have a look at the clip below to watch Buckley, Minchin and the BBC Concert Orchestra perform F Sharp.
In 2012 Buckley will again arrange work for the Holland’s premier classical ensemble, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, which will be heard in one of their cutting-edge encounters with modern music - click here for details, and he will conduct the BBC Symphony Orchestra for Urban Classic - a unique mash-up of musical cultures featuring breakthrough anthems, massive hits and exciting new material from N-Dubz’ leading producer Fazer and top UK urban artists Ms Dynamite, Skepta and Devlin.
