A totemic figure from the spiritual side of jazz saxophonist Charles Lloyd has explored everything from muscular post bop to Eastern modalities and Indian ragas from his days playing to rock audiences in the heady days of the 60s, to his longstanding work on ECM. He continues his forward looking vision of jazz here with with seriously talented pianist Jason Moran, bassist Reuben Rogers, and drummer Eric Harland, premiering material from his latest ECM album, Mirror.
Norma Winstone occupies a special place among Europe’s jazz voices, ethereal yet rich she suffuses folk and classical sensibilities into her rarefied, glacially beautiful music. Performing songs from her new ECM album Stories Yet To Tell she’s joined by pianist Glauco Venier and multi reedist Klaus Gesing. Listen to tracks from the album on the ECM website.
‘Charles Lloyd’s approach to performance is quite different. The more Lloyd goes inside himself the more he draws his audience in. Music of total transport and delight’ Jazzwise
